Purfleet Heritage Military Centre – 4 October 2025

Team Members Present: Russ, Si, Henry, Andy, Lisa, Maz, Jay, Mikey, Paul, Tina

Heritage members: Matt, Olly, Vicky, Evie, 

The beginning

7.45 am As soon as we walked in Si said he couldn’t breathe and he was getting

visibly emotional, tearful. He connected to a spirit called Alan who was looking for

Sue who was his wife. He did not like what we were doing (as ghost hunters), but

he loved this place, he had some kind of contraption at the top of his chest and

found it hard to breathe. His surname was Gosling, he makes noises to make

himself known to the other volunteers. Sue has something here. His message to

the volunteers was ‘keep it going’. Olly confirmed the name of Alan Gosling and his

breathing problems and his wife Sue.

Tina came in and felt there was storage racks and there was a Polish POW here,

which Si agreed with.

Jay felt a spirit that had lost a finger, a mangled finger with a ring lost.

Andy could see another face over Jay’s with a pointed grey beard, he felt the name

Benjamin.

Tina felt Henrik fall forward (Henrik the spirit from the previous week’s ghost hunt).

Si said that he felt children here, and the need to get out ‘glug, glug, glug’. Tina felt

everything is moving like a river, fluid moving; then asked if there is a river nearby.

She could see something moving through.

Tina saw metal boxes, but bigger than ammo boxes laying around.

Si felt a young girl outside, her name was Alice and she drowned (link to previous

ghost hunt).

The Doll’s House area

Tina touched the doll’s house and felt dizzy and a massive flow of energy, Si felt a

slip or bad energy to the left of the dolls house. Tina stated that the house stinks,

that is horrible. Jay said there is something written on the inside of the roof. (Links

to previous ghost hunt). Si is looking at the display cabinet and not happy with it.

Evie said her legs felt really heavy when stepping forward, really weird. Si could

smell coal burning, so could Lisa.

Si connected to a spirit that was hung, but he was not very old he was bullied and

he did not want it to happen, he was made to do it. People took the mick out of him

(link to previous ghost hunt).

Jay is adamant that the spirit he is with hates the chandelier, it is out of place.

Shipwreck

Children are felt and Evie and Vicki and Summer could feel the children holding their

hands, there are three children (one very small), definitely 2 boys but not sure of the

last one.

Jay saw a shadow walking in the distance that was not a team member. Si could

here whispering and felt a coldness, children running a ship full of young people,

those children are here, he gave the name of HMS Cornwall, 200 people, but we are

only getting those that managed to get off, 11 survived, teenagers. They needed to

shelter out of the water, no survivors. The captain did not survive, this was early

1900s big ship with Sails. It was a training ship, could be cadets. Si repeated that

the captain died and 10/11 got off. The children were hiding and may have run into

this building to hide, the ship capsized.

The kids did not board the ship, spirits are worried about being on the boat.

Andy connects with a spirit that says ‘get out’ 3 times and he is nasty, his name is

Hardy, we think first name. Andy sits in a chair and feels he is being pulled towards

the mirror. Andy is getting cross with people laughing.

Si states that the mirror is a portal and says this guy had a whack on his head and is

quite jolly, different to the spirit with Andy.

Russ states that the spirit is disabled and linked to the children and the ship, it does

not like Vicky, Vicky cannot move. Vicky is the authority that he cannot get past.

Russ has taken the spirit off of Andy and is channelling. Russ says this is not light

hearted, he did not do his job properly with the children and cannot forgive himself.

Vicky’s spirit stopped the children getting on the ship, and has done it before and

saved over 50 children, and is the authority. It was the other’s spirits job to get the

children on the boat. Vicky wants to cry and is getting emotional. Si sends the

children back to Vicky for safety and tells them to look for Olly.

Teabreak

At teabreak Mikey is fascinated with a cabinet and says there is dropzone patch in

there, 5 th airborne. He is adamant but it cannot be seen in the cabinet. Matt says

he will get the keys to open the cabinet, but the keys and only those keys are

missing. They managed to force the cabinet open without breaking it and under

another object they found the Pegasus patch but it was facing the wrong way.

Mikey would know as he is an ex paratrooper.

At far end

Si said that Henrik is here and could smell polish, so could Lisa and Tina and they

narrowed it down to Brasso. Tina feels a squadron badge with a Swan and

Hornchurch keeps repeating to her.

Si said someone is attracted to Vicky and something was building, there is then a

loud knock behind Si. Vicky states it is not an officer and not forces, after 1960s. Si

connected and honed in on a spirit that came in here when it was vacant, he was

running from something and died in here after injecting, a drug addict. He did not

mean to kill himself, he was ashamed but very connected to Vicky. Vicky states she

has no connection to this area, but the spirit told Si his surname was Panraka, that

was Vicky’s maiden name, and feels safe with her. Spirit did not want to move on

and wanted to stay in the building.

A spirit whispered loudly in Lisa’s ear ‘I Know’.

The witches

Tina and Si connected to spirits that were not nice but were there before the

building, they called themselves ‘hags’. Some people felt pulling on their ankles,

cold. They seemed to have a building here, cottages, before this building. Tina

could see them weaving with their hands, Lisa could see them making reed baskets,

long ones. Tina felt they made spells to do with the water, but may have been good

for the benefit of people. Between Lisa and Tina the names of the hags were:

Sarah, Lisbeth and Catherine. Names were confirmed by K2 meters. A ‘pow pow

pow’ sound came through but everyone’s phone was on airplane mode.

Wheelchair

Maz felt emotional towards the wheelchair, Si felt a child that was put in it but could

not get in himself afterwards, maybe burns, maybe something else (links to previous

ghost hunt).

Spirit Board

Lisa on the board with Matt, Evie, Olly, Vicky, Matt, Mikey, Andy. A spirit called James

Iver came through. This happened to be Olly and Evie’s grandfather; they were

stunned and had no questions to ask. Vicky came forward with information that he

played an active part in Dunkirk and the d day landings. He was thanked for his

contribution and we said goodbye. We then had another spirit called William, an ex

of Vicky and wanted to talk to her, she did not want to so we said goodbye. All

spirits had trouble going to yes and no for some reason

We had another spirit that spelled his name ‘Daed’ Lisa did not like this as so similar

to the word dead. Maybe prematurely stopped it but decided to follow her feelings.

The group then tried glass divination, and the spirit was asked to speed up and it

did, then stop, then go in other direction, then make a square and a triangle.

We then tried table tipping, we all felt the fixing of the fingers and juddering but the

spirit did not move the table a massive amount. We were all tired, if we had more

energy it may have moved more.
