Saturday 9 August 2025 – Epping Forest Museum

REM Pod room (half a session)

Whilst setting up awaiting the guests we decided to place all the REM pods designed by ourselves in the room with the human skeleton, there were eight of them.  Before the guests arrived  we checked if any of the REMs could be affected by mobile signals and only one was.  We were calling out and they were responding, especially the red lantern in the corner and the one with the rope light.  Seemed like it was going to be an active session.

When we started with the guests we asked them to call out, the team leaders were Si, Lisa and Jay.  Simple questions were asked such as ‘are you male’ and these were answered by the REMs.

In this room Si connected with a spirit ‘Alexandria’ then he corrected to ‘Alexander’ with a flash of one of the REMs.  Si then said ‘Alex’ and there was a definite affirmative answer.  Through Si and others asking questions we got the surname of Scott.  This spirit had died after being shot in the back.  We distilled the date to 1 June 1940 and the word Dunkirk. Si was specific that he did not die on 1 June, but on 2 June after being shot in the back several times.  He told us the name Lucy and he was searching for someone, his friend and his captain and he could not find him. In this room Si also connected to a spirit who said he was in a box in that room, behind the wall.  We asked the lovely Victoria who was the curator and she said she was not sure but it was very possible.

Other Group

In a separate session with Russ, Andy, Mads, Mike  and Henry, Russ connected with a spirit who said he was behind the wall.  There was also a spirit who did not like Russ and would not answer him but would answer other people asking questions.

Spirit Board Room/Baseroom (half a session)

We looked through the top floor rooms which had lots of WW2 memorabilia, perhaps connected to the spirit we found.

We decided to try and get more answers with the spirit board, so the group split and Lisa took some of the willing guests to start the spirit board, at this point Si and Jay stayed in the REM room.

The board was very active and we connected to a male spirit straight away, he spelt his name as Taye Francis, he was a Captain.  We asked if he knew Alex Scott and he confirmed he did and he was looking for him.  He said he died aged 90 and lived in North Weald. We told him he was in the next room and was looking for him but he could not get to him.  He told us Alex Scott jumped on him to save him from the bullets at Dunkirk. He kept mentioning 1948, but we do not know why.  We asked the name of Alex Scott’s wife and he spelt out Lucy.  We are going to look up these names as soon as we can to verify.

We then connected to other spirits, but they were tricksters, giving us their DOB in the future, so we asked them to leave several times, they sometimes said they were connected to a specific guest but then gave incorrect information.  

Lisa was the one talking on the board and the final tricky spirit spelt out ‘stop’, we asked did it want us to stop talking and it went to Yes.  Lisa asked who it wanted to stop and it took the glass to Lisa.  She challenged it saying I will only stop talking if you spell out my name, it spelt out ‘Lisa’. She said she would only stop if it spelt out her surname, which it did, which is an unusual name with one vowel difference.  She asked why, and asked if she was too bossy, the answer was no, is it because she was a teacher, the answer was no, or if the spirit did not like her, again the answer was no. Lisa asked for a reason and it spelt out, very quickly ‘F**k Off’.  At that point session one was over.

Other Group

The other group that used the spirit board later told us a spirit came through that just spit out swear words to Henry, maybe the spirit Lisa had that had not left.

Session 2 – Tudor room and table tipping

After the break we took the guests downstairs to the Tudor room which had artifacts, King Harold’s axe and other axes.  We all felt something was weird about the fireplace and Si connected and thought there might be human remains up there.  We seem to think it may have been a baby and there was an unpleasant male presence there.  

Some of the guests used the Flir device and after filming for a while managed to get a spirit walking in front of the fireplace (not one of us), they all got excited, lots of squeals of delight and awe and we asked them to film again and there definitely was a spirit walking in front of it, it seemed to be pacing up and down.  We encouraged them to hit the record function but are not sure if we got the pictures as yet.  We asked them to do it a third time and we recorded the Flir on our phones but nothing seemed to happen.  

We then decided to do some table tipping with our green table, after a slow start this turned out to be amazing.  For some reason we felt it was a child and started singing nursery rhymes which seemed to encourage it. The floor of this room had old floorboards and it kept getting stuck, we were telling it how to pivot and lift each leg to try and move to the next room.  It was very active going up on two legs and twisting to move forward to get over the floorboards, it managed to move to the next room.  

This next room was easier to move and it kept moving in circles like twirling or dancing very quickly, we started to record it.  We are not sure how it started but we all started singing Eddy Grant songs and that seemed to encourage it, we encouraged it to hit Jay in the legs (a willing victim for the spirits).  It moved into the other room and cornered and hit him quite hard in the unmentionables with a corner of the table.  Too soon it was time for another break.

Other group

The other group did table tipping in the room with the floor boards and this was thought to be a male spirit, but would not give any further information except that he lived.  

The group then started the human pendulum in the axe room with a guest, it was a woman who had got pregnant and was a mistress (thought to be the male presence on the tipping table), however she was married and her name was Isabel.  Isabel told us she lost both the baby and her life in childbirth.  The child has passed over but she did not through guilt.  Isabel therefore remains there with her husband and her lover.  The affair partner was thought to be rich and powerful and she was also well off, they met through Isabel’s husband.

In the next room many of the guests got some great interaction from the dowsing rods, identifying a male presence in the room.  Russ picked this up quickly after arriving late, the name of the spirit is thought to be David. There were three different women in spirit and they were witches, one of whom was David’s daughter, he was also a Sheriff.

Session 3 – Séance room

We had decided to do an all guests and team members séance which had proved extremely powerful in the past, however, some guests wanted to try the spirit board again so some team members accompanied them.

Russ started the séance and there were 14 of us, we asked spirit to come forward.  Some arms were being raised and were pointing at people and touching their chests, unfortunately Sandra seemed to get the worst of this.  Normally no one leaves the circle of a séance, however within a short amount of time 7 people left, some for inexplicable reasons, some for extreme pain for no reason, some because they were suddenly desperate for the loo.  Weirdly no one wanted to rejoin, this is unusual.
