Join us at the fantastic Secret Nuclear Bunker Kelvedon Hatch for a ghost hunting event. With a brilliant venue and a team who have experienced the bunker before, we are excited to take you around!
The Secret Nuclear Bunker at Kelvedon Hatch, in the Borough of Brentwood in the English county of Essex, is a large underground bunker maintained during the cold war as a potential regional government headquarters. Since being decommissioned in 1992, the bunker has been open to the public as a tourist attraction, with a museum focusing on its cold war history.
Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker was built as an RAF Rotor Station, then it became a civil defence centre and finally a Regional Government HQ. It was designed to allow up to 600 people survive the aftermath of a nuclear war, but thankfully it has never been used as a emergency nuclear bunker.
Since becoming a museum, Kelvedon Hatch Nuclear Bunker has become notorious as a haunted location, appearing on Living TV’s ‘Most Haunted’ as well as other programmes and has been the focus of many paranormal investigations. There is a story that during the construction of the bunker’s walls (10ft wide and 100ft deep), concrete was being poured day and night. One morning the day shift found the foreman’s hat floating on the wet concrete and the man in question nowhere to be found and never to be seen again.
The main paranormal hotspot is the sick bay, which contained many cardboard coffins (easier to store, they fold up). Dark shadows are often seen flitting back and forth. Mediums have reported a malevolent presence which may be responsible for the feelings of dread and foreboding which many people experience whist in this area. Such negative forces exist in the bunker, especially the sick bay, which is presumed to originate way before the bunker was built.
On our previous event here we heard whistling within the operating room. We also felt a bed rocking/shaking in the male dormitory and what sounded like a large metal object being thrown in the plant room.
Stones have been reported to be thrown at people, loud crashed and bangs have been heard from empty rooms at night. Odd lights and mists have been seen to materialise from thin air and foul smells have been reported on many ghost hunts, all of which are unexplainable.
Your ghost hunt at Kelvedon Hatch includes:
• Tour of the venue
• Vigils throughout the location working in small groups
• Spirit board & Séance experiments
• Use of ghost hunting equipment including Dowsing Rods, EMF Meters & Mel Meters
• Refreshments throughout
A ghost hunt at Kelvedon Hatch is a terrifying experience and is certain to be an experience you will never forget. Join Essex Ghost Hunters as we venture 125ft below ground in search of the ghosts that haunt this venue.
What a fantastic night, lots of things happened. Being a sceptic I am always looking for a logical answer first. There were occurrences that I could not explain no matter how much I tried. Cold spots that followed us, noises, feelings, moving spirit boards and the list goes on!!! The team were brilliant, I didn't feel threatened by anything and that's why I was so brave! Can't recommend them enough. Looking for something different..then try this. Well worth it. See you soon at Fort Amherst. Can't wait! Many thanks.
Spent the night with the team at The (not so) Secret Nuclear Bunker Kelvedon Hatch. Went as a skeptic but events and experiences have shaken my skepticism a little. There were a few times i sat there thinking "your just making this up" but i could sit here and name 4 things that even had me at a loss to explain....a coldness that followed me along an air tight corridor...a spirit board that lifted with very minimal contact.....the feeling of having my shirt tugged when no-one was behind me......and who could forget the legend that is now Mr Tom Merrick (may he now rest in peace). The best testimony i can bestow....My daughter and i have just booked another night with the team in Fort Amherst! Cheers guys, see you in July
Me and my partner attended the event last night (26/4/14) at the secret nuclear bunker. We have done previous ghost hunting ourselves but last night was another level and by far unbelievable and amazing. The best part for me was the seance, feeling the weightlessness and outta body experience was incredible. We are both very excited and looking forward to booking our next event with you and your team. We send a huge thank you your way for all you done last night! Kaylee and Lee-anne :-)
We run ghost hunting events across Essex and the surrounding counties. Our aim is to provide a great experience, showing how spirits can communicate with us, learning their stories and having an enjoyable time. We charge a minimum and only aim to cover costs and services. Your experience you have and your company will be truly valued by us.
